Six Dutch North Sea wind farms award maintenance and survey contract to FØN Energy Services
Six Dutch offshore wind farms have awarded a five-year maintenance contract to FØN Energy Services. The company won a combined tender from windfarms Borssele 3&4 (owner: Blauwwind), Borssele 5 (Two Towers), Eneco Luchterduinen, Hollandse Kust Noord ( CrossWind), Hollandse Kust West VI ( Ecowende) and Prinses Amaliawindpark (Eneco). These six offshore wind farms have a combined total of 303 wind turbines.
FØN Energy Services will perform above water Balance of Plant (BoP) Inspection, Repair, and Maintenance (IRM) services and below water Remote Operating Vehicle (ROV) surveys for the wind farms from 2026. For some wind farms the services will commence later, when operations start (Ecowende) or when existing commitments have expired.
FØN Energy Services will introduce innovative technologies and advanced methodologies to optimize performance, enhance safety, and minimize downtime. In this way, the company will help ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of these critical assets.
By combining these six wind farms into one single tender, the wind farm owners, with Eneco as operator, were able to achieve significant improvements in efficiency and cost-effectiveness by leveraging economies of scale and streamlining coordination across the entire portfolio. This contract underscores both FØN’s and the windfarm owners' dedication to operational excellence and their roles as a leader in and as supporter to the renewable energy development in Europe.
"The innovative mindset and proven track record of FØN Energy Services align perfectly with our shared dedication to the transition to sustainable energy. Bringing the contracts for these assets under one umbrella will allow us to reduce complexity, improve planning, and maximize operational synergies. For example mobilizing for a campaign covering all windfarms instead of individual visits. ", said Remco Streppel, head of operations at Eneco.
FØN Energy Services also expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration:
"We are grateful for the trust the owners of these wind farms have placed in us", said Sindre Rhrich, CEO at FØN Energy Services. "With our pragmatic, ‘get-it-done’ approach and focus on innovation, we are confident in our ability to deliver exceptional results and contribute to the success of these landmark projects."
