Eneco to acquire Gulf Gas + Power
Eneco is set to acquire business energy supplier Gulf Gas + Power. The acquisition supports Eneco’s strategy to accelerate sustainable growth in the SME segment in the Netherlands and contribute to the energy transition. Eneco sees opportunities to further enhance the service offering to Gulf Gas + Power’s customers and help them reduce energy consumption and emissions.
Gulf Gas + Power has built a customer base of over 30,000 SME clients. In the near term, there will be no changes for these customers. In the course of 2026, Gulf Gas + Power’s operations will be integrated into Eneco. From that moment onwards, all customers renewing their contracts will receive 100% green electricity.
Once Eneco assumes responsibility for the energy supply, customers will start receiving advice on opportunities to reduce emissions. This aligns with Eneco’s ambition to support businesses in reducing their carbon footprint. Through this acquisition, Eneco will be able to support even more business customers in improving efficiency and decarbonising.
Selina Thurer, Chief Operations Officer Customers at Eneco: “This acquisition fits perfectly with our strategy to further grow in the business market and to support SME customers in reducing energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. It strengthens our position as a partner in the energy transition and enables us to offer more customers sustainable energy and innovative solutions.”
Michel Koornstra, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Gulf Gas + Power: “Since our founding in 2017, we’ve rapidly built a strong position as an SME-focused energy supplier in the Netherlands. Joining Eneco ensures continuity for our customers and gives them access to new products, expertise, and scale benefits to accelerate the energy transition. For our team, this marks the beginning of a new chapter in which we can further pursue our ambitions as part of Eneco.”
Eneco aims to achieve climate neutrality together with all its customers. As part of this, Eneco only enters into contracts for green electricity, including with business customers. Earlier this year, Eneco also launched Eneco GroenGebouw™, a proposition that helps commercial property owners to make buildings and energy consumption more sustainable, with full-service support during implementation and ongoing energy management.
The transaction is subject to approval by the competition authorities. Eneco and Gulf Gas + Power will not disclose any financial details regarding this acquisition.
