Eneco takes over Prowind’s wind project development business

Prowind GmbH has announced the sale of its Dutch onshore wind project development business to Eneco. This will increase the development potential in Eneco’s wind portfolio by some 260 MW in the Netherlands, giving the energy company new opportunities to move forward with growing its ambition of producing more sustainable energy.  
 

Prowind wants to focus its operations on the dynamically growing home market in Germany and consolidate its resources. Therefore they sell the Dutch wind development operations to Eneco. For the Dutch energy company, the acquisition represents a valuable addition for a wider spread of wind energy projects across the country. Prowind currently has six employees in the Netherlands. They will stay on with Eneco, continuing to work as wind energy developers on the projects that have been taken over, for example the Horst & Telgt and De Lutte wind farms.  

Eneco’s director of Renewable Power Erwin Leeuwis comments: “The wind projects that we’re acquiring under this agreement are a great addition to Eneco’s portfolio. Much of what is being developed is located in the east of the Netherlands, so this will also give us a wider spread of sustainable energy projects. With Prowind’s Dutch employees joining Eneco and remaining involved with the projects, I’m sure that this agreement will make a positive contribution to our sustainability ambition.”

Prowind in the Netherlands
Prowind will maintain its presence in the Netherlands with projects that are already operational, including the Broekstraat solar farm in Klarenbeek, the citizen-initiated Koningspleij wind farm in Arnhem, a rooftop solar energy system in Hengevelde and the innovative Solar-Transferium energy project in Zwolle, which combines a solar carport, EV charging stations, battery storage and an energy management system.
