Eneco brings new energy and sustainability to the Eneco Tour
During the Eneco Tour, Eneco will make the energy of the race tangible, visible and something people can truly experience. Around the cycling race, title sponsor Eneco is organizing a range of activities to bring new energy to spectators. This will also be done in a way that gives sustainability an important role, in line with Eneco’s mission: ‘Everyone’s sustainable energy.
New energy
During the first edition of the renewed Eneco Tour, Eneco wants to share the enthusiasm we feel for cycling with visitors over the six days of the event. This creates new energy. One example is the Eneco cheering zone, where fans can enjoy the race and the atmosphere around it from a fantastic spot near the finish.
But spectators along the rest of the route will also get to experience that atmosphere. A band will be driven along the course ahead of the peloton to entertain the fans — in an electric vehicle, of course.
Showing what is possible
In addition, Eneco wants to show that making things more sustainable is possible. Together with organizer TIG Sports, we will work step by step make the Eneco Tour more sustainable. Because a great deal is possible. For this first edition, the race organization is switching to electric transport. Eneco will provide the charging cards so that the 36 electric cars can be charged. Partners will also be asked to use electric vehicles wherever possible.
For fans coming to the race, there will be Park & Charge: a guarded bicycle parking facility in cooperation with the NTFU where everyone can park their bike and electric bikes can be charged. In this way, we want to encourage visitors to the Eneco Tour to join us and make a sustainable choice in coming by bike or public transport.
For Eneco visitors and partners, we are organizing, among other things, a seminar in The Hague and ‘Koploper’ sessions at three other locations. During these sessions, we will explain what people can do to take steps themselves, how to get involved, and how Eneco can support them.
The Eneco Tour
The Eneco Tour will take place from 13 to 18 October for both the women’s and men’s pelotons. This year, the race will once again visit Limburg and Drenthe. The stages around Sittard on Friday and to the Col du VAM on Saturday will be the key tests on the route. Earlier in the week, stages are scheduled in and around The Hague, Ede and Tilburg. On Sunday 18 October, Arnhem will host the final stage.
