Eneco appoints Bram Smeets as its new Director of Strategy & Public Affairs

Bram Smeets (39) has been appointed to the role of Eneco’s Director of Strategy & Public Affairs, starting 1 April. Bram is currently a partner at the Dutch branch of consultancy firm McKinsey, where since 2016 he has been leading two teams dedicated to the energy transition and decarbonisation: Global Energy Perspective and Sustainability Insights. He is also Chief Economist for the global integrated energy perspective.

He brings a wealth of experience in strategy development, a profound understanding of the energy transition and an inclusive leadership style. I firmly believe that Bram’s contributions will be of great value as we continue to develop and implement our One Planet Plan.” 

Bram adds, “I am looking forward to joining Eneco. As an expert partner at McKinsey, Bram advises companies in the energy sector, as well as government authorities and investors, and he plays a leading part in developing integrated market perspectives. Besides previous roles at McKinsey, he has also worked for consultancy firms Ecofys in Utrecht and Ecomod Global Modelling in Brussels. Bram studied Econometrics at Maastricht University, and he has a PhD in Sustainable Economics.
