Yasuyuki Asakura joins Management Board Eneco

The Supervisory Board of N.V. Eneco has appointed Mr Yasuyuki Asakura (1965) as Chief Cooperation & International Officer (CCIO) and Member of the Management Board of Eneco, as of 1 May 2024.  He succeeds Mr Hiroshi Sakuma, CCIO since March 2020, who will step down from his position.

Mr Asakura joins Eneco from Mitsubishi Corporation, where he is currently Senior Vice President  and General Manager of the CEO Office in the Power Solution Group, leading the business strategy of the Power Solution Group as the head of the strategic support organisation for the Power Solution Group CEO.

Mr Asakura joined Mitsubishi Corporation in 1991 and has fulfilled many roles within the company. He has gained substantial executive experience in the international energy business as a former President of Diamond Generating Corporation in Los Angeles, USA, and in IPP business development as project manager in Indonesia and Mexico earlier in his career.

Mr Asakura holds a master’s degree in Science and Engineering from Waseda University.

The CCIO is responsible for the strategic interaction between Eneco, Mitsubishi Corporation and Chubu Electric Power, the second shareholder of Eneco. He also stimulates the roll-out of Eneco’s business into international markets, with a particular focus on the extra-large project development such as green hydrogen.

Since 2020, the shares in N.V. Eneco are owned by Mitsubishi Corporation (80%) and Chubu Electric Power (20%).
