Eneco and Solease join forces to make business premises more sustainable

Solease and Eneco have agreed to set up a joint venture to focus entirely on Eneco’s new product for the business market: Eneco GroenGebouw™. Solease and Eneco will work together to provide property owners with a full-service concept to improve the sustainability of their business premises, covering the entire process from analysis to advice and from financing to installation.

Founded in 2011, Solease has the stated ambition to install solar panels on every suitable rooftop in the Netherlands. It was the first company in the country to lease out solar panels, and became the frontrunner in easy-access sustainability improvements to real estate. Since it was first set up, Solease has expanded its product range to include insulation, heat pumps, charging stations and home batteries. Besides consumers, the company now also markets itself to the SME sector, making it a logical step to form a joint venture with Eneco. The idea is to help companies with large-volume connections to make their business premises more sustainable.

Eneco GroenGebouw™ is a new full-service concept for those customers, based on a 10-year sustainability partnership combined with an energy contract. What the property owners get from the partnership is energy at a stable cost, high yields and annual sustainability advice that reflects the latest developments.

Although it seems paradoxical for an energy supplier to help customers save electricity, Eneco sees this as a logical step in changing people’s perspective on energy, and in encouraging the Dutch business sector to become future-proof. The joint venture with Solease will facilitate this.

Solease CEO Pierre Vermeulen explains, “For years we have offered customers sustainability improvements using a full-service approach. We eliminate all the obstacles for them, allowing them to dedicate their time and money to their business. Our services help them to save money and CO2, as well as providing the technological know-how that the improvements require.”

Solease’s CFO Roderick van Wisselingh adds, “Sustainability improvements often require major capital expenditure, which can make companies reluctant. That is why we are so excited to be working with Eneco to offer this integrated proposition, including financing options, to larger business customers including sports clubs and retailers.”

Eneco’s GroenGebouw concept is proof that sustainability does not need to be complicated or expensive. “We do all the work,” explains Dick Velings, Managing Director of Eneco B2B. “The customer gets competitive energy costs, business premises that increase in value and a reliable partner to offer advice based on the latest developments.”
