Eneco acquires customers and employees from DONG Energy Sales B.V.
Eneco will acquire 90,000 energy customers and 89 employees from DONG Energy Sales B.V. Agreement to this effect has today been reached with DONG Energy Sales B.V.'s Danish parent company DONG S/A. The acquisition is still subject to certain conditions, including merger control clearance in the Netherlands.
"We are very pleased", says Jeroen de Haas, chairman of the board of Eneco Group. "This agreement allows us to supply energy to a group of customers that has deliberately decided to purchase sustainable energy. This is perfectly in line with Eneco's ambition to make sustainable energy available to everyone."
The customers of DONG Energy Sales B.V. as well as its 89 employees will become part of a newly formed separate organisation. The intention is that these customers and employees will be fully integrated into the Eneco organisation. Until that time, these customers will continue to be served under the DONG brand name.
The acquisition will bring Eneco's total customer base to more than 2.2 million.
