All Eneco customers informed about compensation for delivering electricity to the grid

The number of people with solar panels is growing and some of them generate more power than they need for their own consumption. Eneco customers receive compensation for delivering this surplus electricity to the grid. On 5 September 2022, Eneco determined that this compensation would be €0,09 for each kWh. At that time, customers who were entitled to this compensation were informed about this adjustment straight away. We are now also informing all our other customers to ensure that everybody who is considering solar panels knows where they stand.

Because not all of our customers had been informed about the adjustment of the compensation for delivering surplus electricity to the grid, customers who first became entitled to compensation between 5 September 2022 and 30 April 2023 will be reimbursed. The reimbursement amount will be calculated based on the former compensation and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the customer’s fixed, variable or model contract. This situation applies to about 5% of our customers.

Compensation for net amount of electricity delivered to the grid
On an annual basis, the electricity generated by a customer is netted off against the electricity consumed by that customer. The electricity consumed is cancelled out by the electricity delivered to the grid. Customers only receive compensation for any surplus electricity delivered to the grid. The compensation will be included in the annual statement.
