Refinancing Eneco Luchterduinen wind farm

Summary

Eneco and Mitsubishi Corporation reached agreement today on the refinancing of offshore wind farm Eneco Luchterduinen. Japan Bank for International Cooperation, BNP Paribas Fortis, Mizuho, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank will invest approximately €450 million in this wind farm, which is located off the coast of the municipality of Noordwijk.

According to Guido Dubbeld, CFO of Eneco Group, the refinancing is an important milestone. 'Eneco and Mitsubishi financed the construction of the wind farm from their own funds, a large portion of which will be recovered by means of this refinancing. The aim is to use these funds for investments in new sustainable projects.'

Eneco and Mitsubishi Corporation each have a 50 percent share in the wind farm, which consists of 43 wind turbines and was put into operation in August 2015. Eneco Luchterduinen wind farm has a capacity of 129 MW and produces sufficient green power to meet the annual electricity needs of around 150,000 households.
